Subaru has been brewing Impreza since the mid 1990s culminating in the latest (and greatest) version that arrived late last year.

It’s 95% new, even the engine which boasts a bit more power and torque than the previous model. Funny thing is new Impreza doesn’t look all that different to old Impreza, let’s just say it’s distinctive.

But the new Sooby is a quality Japanese-made vehicle, has all wheel drive and a swag of safety technology to save your bacon in a prang. Oh, and it’s an impressive (sorry for the pun) thing to drive, more refined, sportier, more functions, better equipped and costs pretty much the same as before.

Just got out of the Subaru Levorg B-Spec into this car and really, truly, would be happy with the Impreza. Advanced ‘Eyesight’ driver assist technology is a bonus at this price…

It’s 95% new – even the engine, which boasts a bit more power and torque than the previous model.

It will tow 3100kg, has a payload of a tonne, a 1520mm long tray and the new 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine scores variable cam timing called MIVEC for efficiency gains.

It’s a good thing by any measure.
