Proving you don’t have to go German for an excellent compact premium sedan, the Lexus IS300h F-Sport matches anything Teutonic and as a hybrid petrol/electric, matches them on fuel economy too. The IS was upgraded late last year with minor styling, equipment and mechanical tweaks.

It’s an impressive car on all counts and looks stunning inside and out.

The IS300h F-Sport is the mid-spec version and runs a 2.5-litre, four cylinder, petrol direct injection engine boosted by an electric motor with battery pack. It achieves the same sort of performance and economy as a diesel but generates fewer emissions.

The F-Sport driven features extensive kit including the full suite of advanced driver assist technology like autonomous emergency braking and cross traffic alert.

It’s a sporty thing on the road with a firm but comfortable ride and strong brakes that come with the F-Sport model.

City driving is aided by a super small turning circle and various electronic driver aids.
